Disciplines animation – Versus Special Effects Artists

There is nothing worse than boring movies. As my favorite animated instructor (who was a creative director at Studio Disney) said: "You can not save a movie with special effects! He and I have had many discussions around the topic of the use of special effects in film and circumstances under which a special effect or dragged promoted the advancement of a plot in a movie.

The role of a leader: A leader can be many things andwriter, producer and director of a film. If a host is working for a studio, the role can be more defined and limited. There are leaders of character, where the task is to design and animate one or more characters on a project. This also means that the look, walk and mannerisms of the character are in the hands of the facilitator. A key facilitator takes the character and essentially defines the poses of the action of the character. Between the artist or animator takes theseand does literally between the two drawings of the motion. If production is based GC, when this is done using animation software.

The role of creator of special effects: A special effects artist to create the appearance or what I call the world of film. This includes things like lighting effects, water effects, reflections, flames, lightning, and the movement of smoke, clouds, grass, hair, fabrics and clothing. It is very detailed and difficult patientwork. You really understand photography and the behavior of light and materials. In ancient times, special effects involved a lot of miniatures, fireworks and son. With the advancement of CG and scheduling additional special effects much of this wonderful art went, except in the tradition of films like "Caroline" and "Nightmare Before Christmas".

It must be a mixture: one of the biggest obstacles facing an animated film (as do fantasyhorror movies and sci-fi) is the temptation to overuse of special effects. Since a feature is usually 90 to 120 minutes long, for pleasure simply sit with a stopwatch and time the length of each special effect in the film, as opposed to interactions between real or dialog. If you have a rare film in the script, you will find extended chase scenes, multiple repeat visits explosions sent a panoramic view and so on. In my discussions with my mentor, who was very old school, the scenario wasthe Film Foundation. In this I agree that if you do not have a script that has all the key elements of the narrative, you might as well wrap them in toilet paper and call it "art." However that said, there are times when we must show or dress up your character in some special effects to communicate the capabilities of the character and advance the story. One of my favorite examples of animators and special effects artists are working well together is "SpiderMan. After all that would be "Spider Man" without the web slinging and gymnastics through downtown?

Using the best of both worlds – creative decisions: When you create an animation or heavy with special effects animation, you should always ask you why you are using a technique as opposed to another. This is not just a matter of budget. It is not exciting experience. It's how you tell the storyand how you arrive at the head of your audience who is great. Make every frame, since each frame counts.
